December 5th is International Volunteer Day, a day to honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of volunteers around the world.
We want to take this opportunity to thank the most important volunteers out there in condoland: condo board members. For those new condo owners out there this might come as a shock but yes, condo board members are actually volunteers. All the hard work, time and stress put in is absolutely for free so we should cherish them and protect them from those who disrespect and harass condo board members.

The Impact of Directors and Volunteers
Condo board members’ primary responsibility is to act in the best interests of the community.
They are also responsible to ensure that the corporation and community run smoothly, which fundamentally involves making decisions on everything from budgets and finances to maintenance and repairs in a timely and effective manner- and consistently communicating these matters to all residents.

Ways to Show Appreciation
Many times the dedication of condo board members often goes unnoticed, but their work is vital to the smooth operation of any condominium community. They invest their time and energy without expecting anything in return, driven by a genuine desire to make their community better. Here are some ways in which you can show them your appreciation:
Say Thank You: A simple thank you can go a long way. Take a moment to express your gratitude to the condo board members who make a difference in your community.
Get Involved: Consider volunteering your time. Even small contributions can have a significant impact and can help lighten the load for our current volunteers. Becoming a condo board member can also be of great help for new condo owners to better understand all the ins and outs of living in a condo corporation.
Participate in Events: Support the events and initiatives organized by condo board members. Your participation not only shows appreciation but also strengthens the community bonds.
Nominate for Awards: If there are opportunities to nominate condo board members or other volunteers for local or community awards, take the initiative. Recognition beyond our condo can be a great motivator and acknowledgment of their hard work.
